Seventy-one years ago, SABÓ launched its activities in Brazil, being, currently, one of the largest groups in the auto parts segment of the world, and a 100% Brazilian multinational. The company now has factories in Brazil, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Argentina, the United States and China, the latter dedicated to local OEM customers, as VW and GM, among others, in addition to commercial and technical centers in Japan, France, England and Italy.

The SABÓ group manufactures integrated seal, gaskets, seals, hoses, BPS (Bonded Seals Pistons) for automatic transmissions and mechanic seals systems, employing over 3,200 employees worldwide. In Brazil, the company holds more than 70% of the domestic seal market (according to a survey carried out by CINAU - Automotive Intelligence Central), with an average annual growth of 10% to 12%, and investments around US$ 10 million per year. Its revenue, in 2012, was of US$ 375 million, with projection of US$ 400 million for 2013.

In Brazil, with 1,800 employees, the projected total revenue for 2013 is US$ 220 million, with US$ 30 million of direct exports. And regarding only the aftermarket, the projection is of US$ 105 million, including the Brazilian market and Latin America.

Starting its exports in the 1970’s, to Germany, SABÓ today stands out for having branches in several countries, considered as major complexes for the auto parts industry.

Motivated by the creation of Mercosul in 1992, the company acquired two seal factories, that were duplicated in Argentina, and, in 1993, also with interest in the European market, SABÓ bought KACO, a traditional centennial German company, three more plants in the same country and, through government subsidies, expanded its factory in Austria, as the project was considered a technological innovation. It also rebuilt its factory in Hungary in 2000.

Currently, SABÓ Germany is the leading supply company for water pump seals, with a share of approximately 60% of the OEM market worldwide. Even with the crisis in Europe, the company maintained its market share, supplying products worldwide, to the European market, to North America, Asia, Central America and South America.

Aiming at expanding the business in the U.S. market and strengthen local customer service, in 1993, SABÓ established its first commercial-technical office in Michigan and, in 2007, completed the construction of the plant in Lincolnton, North Carolina (40 miles away from Charlotte), now consolidated with 120 employees and manufacturing approximately 1 million parts/month, between seals and Bonded Seals Pistons for automatic transmissions. The parts present high technology and industrial automation, with only a few manufacturers around the world providing this type of solution. Such transmissions provide fuel economy of 17% in comparison to the 4-speed transmissions family. Currently, over 6 million transmissions of the kind are manufactures per year in the United States, Mexico, China, Korea and Canada. The transmissions are assembled for the following vehicle models: Malibu, Cruze, Acadia, Outlook, Cadillac SRX, Edge, Fusion and Escape. SABÓ North Carolina provides parts for customers such as General Motors, Ford, Magna, Eaton, GKN Getrag among others.

In 2009, through a project run by its subsidiary  KACO, SABÓ launched its factory in Asia (China), due to the expanding market and fast technological development, receiving government support, taking into the country technology that was nonexistent before.

With 4,000 square meters and over 100 employees, the company grows exponentially and currently operates at its 70% capacity, manufacturing seals, sealing systems and, soon, Bonded Seals Pistons systems, supplying parts for local carmakers. Due to their initiative, the factory received a "technology contribution" certificate from the Chinese government, for investing in the country. Its revenue in 2012 was of US$ 10 million, with projected revenue, for 2013, of US$ 17 million.

SABÓ’s main focus is continuing to develop differentiated high technology products, with high added value and worldwide competitive price, increasing group profitability and adding more value to the product/customer.

All companies from the SABÓ group are certified by the ISO/TS 16949:2009 - Quality Management System and the ISO 14001: 2004 - Environmental Management System standards/specifications, ensuring that factory waste undergoes treatment, including control equipment for liquid effluents and air emissions. Furthermore, all our employees are trained to reduce water and power consumption used in the manufacturing sealing and driving systems. And some of the water used in these processes comes from reuse of rainwater, not to hinder the environment in any way, demonstrating the company's concern with values related to sustainability.

ISO/TS certification is based on ISO 9000:2008, inserted in the standards and requirements of the quality system of major automakers, in accord to their own requirement and the automotive market in general, with the primary goal of customer satisfaction. Other important certifications received by Sabó are Q1 (Ford Award), IQA - Automotive Quality Institute, for the aftermarket, VDA 6.3 (Volkswagen) and QSB (Fiat and GM).

These certifications follow global standards, ensuring and guaranteeing that, wherever there is a SABÓ factory, the parts hold the same manufacturing and quality standards, giving the company the honor of being one of the most technologically and environmentally qualified to contribute, not only with the market, but also with community development, in Brazil and worldwide.

With the designs developed in all these countries, SABÓ is currently one of the largest global automotive part suppliers.
